Founder and President of Environics Analytics, Jan Kestle has been a leader in the marketing information industry for nearly forty years. An expert in using statistics and mathematics to help solve business challenges, she has worked with hundreds of clients in all industries to help them find and serve their customers. In November 2003, she founded Environics Analytics, in partnership with the Environics group of companies, establishing a new marketing and analytical services company based in Toronto. She has since directed the initiatives creating the pioneering PRIZM CE, PRIZM C2 and PRIZM QC segmentation systems that combine geodemographics with psychographic Social Values to classify consumers by both their mindset and marketplace behaviour. In addition, she oversaw the development of a number of innovative marketing products by EA research and development teams, including WealthScapes, GreenScapes, Envision and the Diversity Micromarketing Toolkit. Prior to founding EA, Jan was president of Compusearch and spent 19 years at the Ontario Statistical Centre, where she developed an expertise in the Canadian census and its applications in marketing and social research. She is the recipient of a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics from the University of Western Ontario.

As a Senior Vice President and the Chief Methodologist at Environics Analytics, Anthony Lea, Ph.D., oversees all research and development initiatives, population estimates and projections, and site evaluation models. An internationally recognized leader in geodemographics and marketing research, he provided methodological guidance in the development of PRIZM C2, led the development of EA’s WealthScapes product and, during his thirty-year career, directed hundreds of socioeconomic, demographic, marketing analysis and research projects. Prior to joining EA, Tony was Senior Research Associate with the Centre for the Study of Commercial Activity at Ryerson University, Managing Director of MapInfo Canada and Senior Vice President of Compusearch. He has taught geography and quantitative methods at the University of Minnesota, University of Toronto and Queen’s University. In addition, he continues to serve as an adjunct professor with both the School of Applied Geography at Ryerson University and the Department of Geography at the University of Toronto. The recipient of master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Toronto, Tony was recognized for his career contributions to business research with the 2001 Award for Geography in the Service of Government and Business from the Canadian Association of Geographers.

One of Canada’s leading experts on the Census, Doug Norris, Ph.D., is a Senior Vice President and Chief Demographer at Environics Analytics. He joined EA in 2006 after nearly 30 years with Statistics Canada, where he earned the nickname of “Mr. Census” in his role as Director General of Social and Demographic Statistics. Currently, he assists companies, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations in using census and other statistical information for planning and marketing projects. And he frequently writes articles and delivers speeches on demographics, immigration, ethnicity and the family. An adjunct professor at Carleton University and the University of Alberta, he serves on several steering committees related to the use and development of social data. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from McGill University and a Ph.D. in biostatistics and demography from Johns Hopkins University. In 2006, Statistics Canada honoured him with a lifetime achievement Award for Career Excellence in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the agency. That same year, the Canadian Population Society also awarded Doug a Lifetime Achievement Award for “Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Demography.”
Finance, Insurance, Travel and Telecommunications

Catherine Pearson is Vice President and Practice Leader for the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications industries. With nearly 20 years of sales and account management experience, she provides companies with extensive consulting and applications support to implement their marketing programs and custom modelling solutions. A frequent speaker at conferences sponsored by industry and trade groups, she earned an honours degree in business from the University of Windsor and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Western Ontario.

As Director of Client Advocacy in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, Emily Anderson leads a team of client advocates who ensure customers realize the most value from their relationship with EA—whether that involves strategic guidance, ENVISION training or project work. She previously served as a research analyst with the Centre for the Study of Commercial Activity and Nissan Canada, gaining extensive experience in geodemographic segmentation, trade area analysis, GIS and retail sales performance. She holds an honours bachelor’s degree in economic geography from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in Spatial Analysis from Ryerson University. In 2009, Emily was the recipient of the first EA Employee of the Year Award.

Jason Dunkel is a Sales Consultant in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, with a focus in the travel and tourism industry. In his current role, he informs clients on the best ways to use EA’s products and services to increase their customer base. In addition, he helps EA expand its own client base by promoting company offerings at industry trade shows and integrating its data with social media and web analytics sites. Since joining the company in 2008, he has been named Employee of the Year as a product manager for ENVISION and finished first in the Alteryx Grand Prix, an annual competition to solve business challenges, involving the best Alteryx programmers in the world. A graduate of Queen’s School of Business, Jason holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with first-class honours in marketing.

A leader in customer relationship management for over 20 years, Mark Harrison is the Director of Data Science in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice. He specializes in client campaign management activities, offering expertise in database management, project reporting and user interface dashboards. His career highlights include senior positions in wealth management at CIBC, card marketing at American Express Canada and customer insights at AstraZeneca Canada. Mark has completed executive education programs at McGill University, the University of Western Ontario and McMaster University.

Kevin Hopkins is a Client Advocate in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, providing clients with information on customer demographics, wealth, values and other characteristics to improve their marketing programs. Prior to joining EA, he worked as a research assistant in spatial analysis at Ryerson University and a manager of development and municipal services for Bell Canada. A former intern at EA who specialized in WealthScapes data, he now focuses on the financial behaviour of consumers to help clients better serve their needs. Currently completing his studies for a Master of Spatial Analysis degree from Ryerson University, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geographic analysis, also from Ryerson.

A Client Advocate, Uschi Erne helps transform EA research and analysis into successful marketing programs for customers in the finance, insurance, telecommunications and travel industries. She is expert at uncovering critical consumer patterns and profiling target groups to help clients communicate with their customers and reach untapped markets. Currently working on a master’s degree in spatial analysis at Ryerson University, she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in GIS and geography from Queen’s University. In addition, she has received several prestigious awards and was a teacher’s assistant at both Ryerson and Queen’s universities.

As a Client Advocate in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, Dave Daniels provides clients with essential insights on the demographics, lifestyles and wealth of their customers and markets. Dave previously worked with EA as a client at Parks Canada, where he was a research officer responsible for analyzing customer data and Canadian travel and leisure trends. In addition, he served as a program coordinator at Showbiz Marketing and a client relations representative for Molson Canada and Labatt Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and communications studies from Wilfrid Laurier University and received an Ontario Graduate Certificate for completing a research analyst program at Georgian College.

Stan Ivankovic is a Sales Consultant in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, advising clients on the best ways to use EA’s products and services to increase their customer base. A veteran sales executive, he spent eight years at Xerox Canada, where he developed leadership and consultative skills as a solutions and services executive, field training consultant across Canada and product specialist for Butterfly Business Products (a Xerox agency). At EA, he helps clients improve the development, execution and measurement of their direct marketing strategies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in management and economics, and participated in co-op programs in marketing at Bell Mobility and Softchoice Corporation.

Krystina Sulatycki applies her wide-ranging experience in business management and new media in her role as a Client Advocate in EA’s finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice. By creating detailed target group profiles and compelling reports on customers and markets, she provides clients with actionable, data-based customer insights. Previously, she held positions as CEO of Stylehawk (producer of a mobile shopping application) and research project leader at the University of Bremen. Krystina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in materials engineering from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration-Management of Technology and Innovation degree from the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University.

As Vice President and Practice Leader for the media, retail, real estate and manufacturing industries, Michele Sexsmith oversees a range of client projects, from helping retailers determine the best sites for opening stores to developing the optimum media mix for reaching targeted customers and identifying the most promising growth opportunities for residential developers. With over 25 years of experience in geodemography and market research, Michele holds a Canadian Market Research Professional designation, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hamilton College and a master’s degree in education from Nipissing University.

As Sales Consultant to the real estate, health and wellness and direct-to-consumer industries, Mark Lebovits works closely with clients to uncover actionable insights that drive growth. His extensive experience in the real estate industry has helped shopping centre developers identify opportunities that increase sales per square foot and residential builders reach sought-after purchasers for new housing developments. In addition, he’s worked with health and wellness clients to capture customer insights and expand into new markets. Mark holds a master’s degree in spatial analysis from Ryerson University and an honours bachelor’s degree in economics and human geography from the University of Toronto.

As Director of Client Advocacy in the media, retail, real estate and manufacturing practice, Claire Plaxton manages a team of client advocates in their efforts to ensure EA customers receive high-quality solutions to their business challenges. She oversees all team projects, including managing resource allocation and scheduling; determining project scope; planning and monitoring progress; and communicating with clients and EA departments. Prior to joining EA, she held positions as a financial analyst and a human resources consultant to financial companies. The recipient of a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina in the U.S., she earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in international business and entrepreneurship from McGill University.

An Client Advocate in the media, retail, real estate and manufacturing practice, Denver Redman helps clients communicate with their customers by analyzing their lifestyles, media patterns and social values. He has expertise in a variety of industries and previously was a merchandiser for Best Buy Canada and the operations manager for a Toronto-based appliance service company. He holds an honours Bachelor of Science degree in political science and psychology from the University of Toronto and recently graduated from the Research Analyst Post-Graduate Program from Georgian College.

Vito De Filippis brings a background in relationship marketing, sales and customer service to his role as Client Advocate in EA’s retail, media, real estate and entertainment practice. He analyzes and interprets data, prepares insightful and compelling reports on target groups and provides varied deliverables to help clients better understand their customers and markets. Previously, he worked in customer loyalty and retention for Telus and sales for Best Buy. The recipient of an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto with a double major in sociology and English, Vito also has a post-graduate Certificate in Strategic Relationship Marketing from George Brown College.

A Client Advocate in the retail, media and real estate practice, Trisha Scantlebury analyzes research data and writes insightful reports to help clients better understand their customers. For client projects, she interprets research, images target groups, answers client queries and prepares presentations. She previously worked as a research analyst at NADbank, where she investigated new technologies and applied innovative methodologies to support the group’s ongoing research. She also worked as a research assistant for three years at the University of Guelph, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in sociology. In addition, she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from York University.

Rupen Seoni is Vice President and Practice Leader for the consumer packaged goods, automotive, federal and provincial government, health care and not-for-profit sectors. He brings to the position more than 14 years of experience in geodemographics, both as a supplier and a user, and he served as an advisor on the development of PRIZM C2 and PRIZM QC. He specializes in helping private- and public-sector organizations understand population trends, segmentation and performance benchmarking. Having worked for financial, packaged goods and retail companies, Rupen has broad industry experience and holds a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Toronto.

As Vice President and Practice Leader overseeing the municipal government and fundraising sectors, Peter Baker helps clients utilize company products and services to develop smarter and more effective target-marketing programs. The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Waterloo, he has given presentations at national and international conferences on GIS and Canadian geodemographic issues.

As Director of Client Advocacy in the packaged goods, automotive, public sector and not-for-profit practice, Rosa Rumeo manages a team of four client advocates in their effort to help transform company research and analysis into successful marketing applications. Rosa and her team assist clients in achieving their marketing goals by uncovering critical consumer patterns, profiling target groups and developing data-based promotion ideas. Rosa brings more than ten years of financial and marketing experience to EA, having previously served as a director of customer information strategies at CIBC. She graduated from the Schulich School of Business at York University with a bachelor’s degree with honours in business administration.

Hanna Wagner is a Client Advocate in the packaged goods, automotive, public sector and not-for-profit practice, analyzing research data to help clients develop effective marketing campaigns. With experience in a variety of industries, she’s successfully leveraged client data to identify key customers based on demographics, lifestyles and Social Values. A graduate of the Research Analyst Postgraduate Program at Ontario Georgian College, she also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University.

A Client Advocate in the packaged goods, automotive, public sector and not-for-profit practice, Hugh Hibbert helps clients turn customer data into actionable geographic intelligence for effective marketing programs. While developing customer profiles, market studies, trade area maps and custom reports, he has gained expertise in a variety of sectors, including entertainment, health care, education and not-for-profits. A former project scientist for Environmental Resources Management, he holds a Master of Spatial Analysis degree from Ryerson University and an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in city studies and sociology from the University of Toronto.

A Client Advocate in EA’s public sector, automotive, not-for-profit and packaged goods practice, Ruben Campos helps businesses and not-for-profits develop data-driven marketing solutions. He analyzes and interprets EA data and trend reports to develop customer insights, target group profiles and marketing strategies—all delivered in compelling written reports and presentations. After earning a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering at Universidad Simon Bolivar, Ruben worked as a distributor of security software and mail solutions where he developed an interest in applying technology to better understand and retain customers. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Ryerson University.

A Client Advocate in the packaged goods, automotive, public sector and not-for-profit practice, Alex Lougheed helps clients develop strategic marketing campaigns by analyzing their data for deeper customer insight. Leveraging his experience in quantitative analysis, public policy and government, he provides clients with customer profiles, demographic reports and market maps to help them connect with their constituents and markets. A self-described “datamancer” (or manipulator of data), he has worked with a number of organizations, including the Canadian Legal Information Institute, Canadian Alliance of Student Associations and the University of British Columbia’s Office of Learning Technology. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of British Columbia.

As Manager of the Standard Research team, Philip Tananka supervises most of EA’s PRIZM-related project work, such as customer profiling, mapping, survey and geographic ranking, and market potential analysis. He also oversees projects in data mining, geocoding, customer analysis, trade area analysis, direct mail preparation, response analysis and campaign management. Prior to joining EA, Philip worked as a market planning analyst with Cara Operations and served as a GIS specialist and team leader at DMTI Spatial. He earned a master’s degree in spatial analysis and a certificate in applied digital geography and GIS from Ryerson University, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Belarusian State University.

A Senior Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, Andrea Longman helps clients solve their marketing challenges by providing customer profiles, trade area reports, custom maps and data services for a variety of clients. Andrea has broad experience in financial and retail industries, including senior-level positions at Aviva Canada, Nielsen, Royal & SunAlliance and Compusearch. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Geography from Ryerson University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Carleton University and a professional certificate in customer relationship management.

As a Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, Melodi Moini helps clients solve their marketing challenges by providing customer profiles, trade area reports, custom maps and data services. She has expertise in a number of sectors, including retail, not-for-profits and government agencies, and previously worked as a GIS technician at De Beers Canada Exploration. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geographic analysis from Ryerson University.

Sasha Ramroop is a Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, providing customer profiles, trade area reports, custom maps and data services for a variety of clients. Prior to joining EA, she served as a researcher and analyst for several health and government organizations, including Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital and Ontario’s Ministry of Community and Social Services. Currently completing the Master of Spatial Analysis program at Ryerson University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Geographic Analysis and received a BBM Canada Scholarship for Best Overall Performance in Research Methods, also at Ryerson.

A Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, Greg Schreiber provides micromarketing and data mining services—including customer profiling, trade area reporting, custom mapping and data services—to an array of clients. Previously, he served as a research assistant for St. Joseph’s Health Care, a research and assessment associate for the Thames Valley District School Board, a GIS specialist for the County of Lambton and a spatial analyst for Hallmark Canada. A former teaching assistant at the University of Waterloo, where he earned a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree in urban planning and a diploma of excellence in GIS, he also holds a Master of Spatial Analysis degree from Ryerson University.

A Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, Konstantine Burlakov uses EA’s software such as ENVISION and other advanced analytical products to provide clients with custom trade area reports and maps for better data visualization. With expertise in statistical analysis, geographic information systems and database development, he has worked as a consultant for the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance and as a lead researcher collecting data on visitor satisfaction for Canada’s Wonderland. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geographic analysis from Ryerson University and plans to continue developing his expertise in marketing and analytics.

Josh Chisholm, a Research Analyst with the Standard Research team, provides clients with business intelligence by developing custom maps, trade area reports, data services and other geodemographic products. Before joining EA, he served as a GIS cartographer for Natural Resources Canada and a geomatics research assistant and GIS support assistant at Carleton University. Josh earned a Bachelor of Science with High Honours degree in geography from Carleton, where he also served as president of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies’ student association.

As Vice President of Custom Research, Danny Heuman oversees the creation of high-quality geodemographic products for corporate, government and not-for-profit clients. An expert in market analytics and modelling, he led the development of EA’s popular PRIZM C2 and PRIZM QC segmentation systems. He also was the lead developer of PRIZM CE, conducting the innovative research that integrated psychographic Social Values with geodemographics for the groundbreaking segmentation system. In addition, Danny has built a variety of desktop and online site evaluation models for restaurants, retail stores, financial institutions and government agencies. After earning a master’s degree in geography from York University, he worked at Compusearch/MapInfo, where he built complex models used in site selection, database marketing, consumer behaviour and target marketing.

Robert Dominico is Environics Analytics’ Senior Methodologist and the principal researcher on all population projections, including EA’s Demographic Estimates and Projections database. He works closely with Statistics Canada on issues involving the content, definition and collection of census data. Before joining EA, he was a senior research analyst at MapInfo Canada and, during 12 years at Statistics Canada, he held several technical and research roles, including senior technical officer and consultant for custom tabulations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and philosophy from Laurentian University.

Peter Miron is a Senior Research Associate, specializing in data mining, customer profiling, demographic forecasting, financial modelling, behavioural analysis and target marketing. The principal analyst for developing WealthScapes, he brings to the position a multidisciplinary background in quantitative economics, database development, spatial modelling and advanced statistical analysis. Peter also has broad industry experience, having conducted analytics in the automotive, banking, insurance, retail and travel sectors. A former marketing data analyst with Analuein Inc., Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Spatial Analysis degree from Ryerson University.

Peter Pavlakidis is a Senior Research Associate with the Custom Research Group where he focuses on advanced project work and product development for Environics Analytics’ standard product suite. With 14 years of marketing experience, he is one of the original members of EA, formerly served as the Director of Standard Research and has worked on many of EA’s core products and services. He helped standardize routines for ENVISION, trained staff on shared techniques and methodologies, and provided technical expertise in GIS, relational databases, quality control, trade area analysis, geodemography, customer insight and data mining. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Geography degree from Ryerson University, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Spatial Analysis also at Ryerson University.

As a Research Associate with the Custom Research team, Sean Howard develops custom products and client solutions using census demographics and geography. A trained urban geographer, he previously worked as a GIS specialist at GeoDan and Associates where he managed a number of research projects in applied geography. A former teaching assistant in advanced spatial statistics and modelling, he holds a master’s degree in geographic information systems from the University of Calgary and an honours bachelor’s degree in geographic information science and geography from Queen’s University.

Sandra Albanese is a Senior Research Analyst with the Custom Research team, focusing on the development of standard data products and custom solutions. She has 12 years of experience providing clients with a variety of products: mapping profiles, survey ranking reports, trade area and response analyses, and custom reports. Her expertise ranges across industries—from finance and retail to government and not-for-profit. She holds an honours Bachelor of Science degree in environmental sciences from the University of Toronto, a certificate in geographic information systems from Mohawk College, and is now pursuing a Master of Spatial Analysis degree at Ryerson University.

An Economist with the Custom Research team at Environics Analytics, Xiangjin Shen develops custom demographic, macro-econometric and micro-econometric models for forecasting, economic analysis, market predictions and business planning. She has expertise in statistical modeling, econometric computing, and survey analysis for a variety of industries, including education, finance, labour, health and transportation, and she draws on this experience to help clients tackle the most challenging business questions. Prior to joining EA, Xiangjin taught business statistics, microeconomics and econometrics at the University of New Mexico and Rutgers University. She holds a Master of Statistics degree from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. of Economics degree from Rutgers University.

A Data Scientist in the Custom Research department, Justin Veenstra helps solve client challenges using his expertise in statistics, mathematics, programming and optimization. With a focus on research and development, he helps develop new products that enable clients to better connect with customers by refining their targeting efforts. Prior to joining EA, he worked as a teaching and research assistant at Western University and the University of Waterloo. In addition, he served as a statistical consultant to graduate students and non-profits in Waterloo and London, Ont. Now completing his Ph.D. in statistics at Western University, he holds a master’s degree in statistics from the University of Waterloo and an honours bachelor of science degree in statistics and mathematics from the University of Toronto.

Tom Montpool is Director of the Standard Data team, responsible for packaging and distributing all EA products, maintaining current data assets and assisting with marketing material and documentation. With nearly a decade of experience in the geodemographic industry, he is a recognized expert in data management and modelling for complex site selection, database marketing, consumer behaviour and target marketing. He has previously worked as a research analyst and product manager, and has managed custom research projects for clients ranging from retail banks to not-for-profits. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geography from Queen’s University and the University of Waterloo, respectively.

As Vice President of Product Management and Client Services, Jim Green oversees a department charged with delivering high-quality service and support for EA applications and data products. From developing marketing research tools and selling media products to creating digital studies and overseeing product management, Jim has more than 25 years of experience in senior positions in marketing, sales and business development. Prior to joining EA, he served as the senior director of client management at Generation5 and was an account manager for AC Nielsen Co. of Canada. In addition, he held executive-level positions at KidsFutures Inc., DCCI (now Telmetrics) and DAC Group. The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in economics from Waterloo University, Jim also holds a certificate in human resources management from Ryerson University.

As Director of the Product Management group, Teresa Sinopoli-Di Palma oversees Environics Analytics’ product lines and services life cycles, directing the development of new products, software-driven solutions and automated research packages. She collaborates with all EA teams, from software development to marketing, to develop a strategic plan for the company’s entire suite of products and services. Formerly EA’s Director of Client Services, Teresa has significant experience helping clients in a wide range of industries apply marketing analytics to solve business challenges. Prior to joining EA, Teresa was the Director of Standard Research at Compusearch and earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in geography from Ryerson University.

Lefty Papachristoforou is a Product Manager at Environics Analytics, responsible for combining databases developed at EA with client knowledge to create data-driven marketing solutions and automated research packages. In his role overseeing the creation of new products like PRIZM Digital, he serves as the coordinating “glue” between the company’s research and development team and its account managers. Lefty possesses both an entrepreneurial and analytical background, having worked previously as the content manager at ProductWiki, a web-based product information resource, and as an analyst at Union Gas Limited, where he researched new technologies and developed energy conservation programs. He earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

As Director of Client Services, Micheline Kuepfer develops and provides comprehensive orientation and training programs for all current and new clients. A former Senior Client Advocate in the finance, insurance, travel and telecommunications practice, she has broad experience analyzing customer data for targeted marketing projects, delivering data-based analytical presentations, and providing product training and client support. Prior to joining EA, she spent more than a decade working at A.C. Nielsen, Allstate Insurance and Compusearch, where she participated in developing support initiatives for the MarketMath and Market Link software products. Micheline holds a Geography degree from the University of Western Ontario.

In his role as Product Management and Client Services Coordinator, Mauricio Vasquez helps implement the work of EA teams in client services, fulfillment and product management. He provides comprehensive training programs, delivers client fulfillment packages and conducts extensive testing of ENVISION, EA’s popular micromarketing tool. In his previous position as a Client Advocate, Mauricio developed reports, maps and profiles to help clients better understand their customers and markets. His background includes research and geospatial analytical positions at consulting and telecommunications companies, where he developed an expertise collecting, interpreting and maintaining data to support strategic planning. Mauricio holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geographic analysis from Ryerson University.

The Vice President of Software Development, Gary Wood leads the team that developed Envision, EA’s powerful new online micromarketing tool. An accomplished software developer and the chief architect in the 1990s of Compusearch’s MarketMath™ and Zephyr™ desktop systems, he has a broad background in graphic arts, geodemography, market analytics and statistical analysis. His recent accomplishments include creation of a software application that helps banks consolidate their retail branches by calculating the effect of one closure on neighbouring branches. Gary earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from the University of Western Ontario.

A Senior Developer for Environics Analytics, Tony Bursey is a veteran software designer and developer with 15 years of experience in geodemography, market analytics and statistical analysis. At EA, he helps develop micromarketing applications, including the groundbreaking Envision, and online tools for delivering census data among other information products. Prior to joining the company, he served as manager of new product development at MapFusion and director of website and Internet development at Compusearch. Tony holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in applied geography from Ryerson University, where he specialized in location analysis.

As a Senior Developer with Environics Analytics, Andrew Schuster provides custom solutions to business challenges based on spatial analysis. Experienced in both public- and private-sector projects, he creates software to profile customers, geocode databases, conduct trade area studies and facilitate response analyses. In addition, he’s a part of the Envision development team, focusing on the tool’s back-end design and reporting system. With more than eight years of experience working with GIS software, Andrew holds a master’s degree in spatial analysis from Ryerson University, bachelor’s degrees in geomatics and urban studies from Wilfred Laurier University and an advanced diploma in GIS from the Centre of Geographic Sciences.

A Software Developer with Environics Analytics, Andrew Komaromy helps build and enhance the company’s application software. As a member of the ENVISION support team, he assists in adding new functionality and resolving technical issues, and he also helps design visualization tools to analyze client data. With a background in information systems, he previously worked as a research assistant at Ryerson University’s Department of Geography and School of Journalism. He holds as a master’s degree in spatial analysis and a bachelor’s degree in geographic analysis, both from Ryerson University.

A Software Developer at Environics Analytics, Ryan Lee helps build and enhance the company’s data-driven applications. He supports the company’s micromarketing platform, ENVISION, assisting in adding new functionality, expanding existing capabilities and resolving technical issues for both internal and external clients. An experienced web and software developer, he has worked at a variety of organizations in Toronto and Seoul, Korea, including Microsoft Korea, the University of Toronto, Degree Center Korea and the Department of Police in Seoul. Fluent in English and Korean, he holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Toronto.

As Chief Technology Officer at Environics Analytics, Mark Kaminski has over 30 years of experience in information technology. He has held senior positions in management, software development and consulting at some of North America’s largest computer manufacturers. From 1993 to 2001, Mark was Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Technology Officer for Compusearch, where he was responsible for the design, development and implementation of MarketLink™, a proprietary datamart that focused on the application of geodemography and clusters to large customer transaction data warehouses. Mark holds an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science from York University.

As an Information Technology Specialist at Environics Analytics, Joseph Ng Chow provides technical assistance to EA’s customers and users, as well as system-level support for the company’s production, development and server and network capacity requirements. Previously, he worked as a software developer at IBM, where he specialized in web-based user interfaces and database support. A graduate of the University of Toronto, he earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.

The Vice President of Marketing, Michael J. Weiss is responsible for increasing the awareness of Environics Analytics through media and marketing initiatives. An internationally known expert in geodemographics, he directed the naming and imaging of the PRIZM C2 and PRIZM CE clusters, and he has written numerous articles, ads and data descriptions for EA products and services. As a U.S.-based writer, he helped create a number of consumer segmentation systems and authored three books on the subject: The Clustered World, Latitudes & Attitudes and The Clustering of America. Michael received a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and was awarded a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in economics and business journalism.

As the Director of Interactive Marketing, Jack DePoe is responsible for administering and enhancing Environics Analytics’ presence in the digital world. Through social media, Web and other mobile channels, he ensures that EA’s message is delivered to the largest possible audience in real time, putting the right information in the hands of those who need it quickly and efficiently. Prior to joining EA, Jack worked in sales and marketing in the tourism industry and held marketing positions with travel and media companies in Mexico. He studied languages at the University of British Columbia and York University, and is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.

Marketing Manager Julia Vasilev implements all aspects of Environics Analytics’ marketing, advertising and promotional strategies. She coordinates staff participation in trade conferences and shows—including EA’s own annual user conference—oversees production of marketing materials to support EA products and services and helps create and distribute communications materials to customers and members of the press. Prior to joining EA, Julia worked in sales, marketing and management for fashion retailer Le Château. She earned an advanced diploma from George Brown College and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in business management from Ryerson University with a focus on marketing management and business law.

As Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Nigel Pleasants is responsible for developing new data supplier and distribution partnerships for Environics Analytics. A veteran advertising executive, Pleasants has more than twenty years of experience in the ad agency business, with assignments in London, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal. For seven years, he was Director of Marketing and Readership Development at The Globe and Mail. During the past decade, he owned and operated Sal-Mark Inc., a company that provides consulting and business development, and worked as Vice President of Marketing at Manifold Data Mining. Active in industry trade associations, he has served as Chairman of the Broadcast Research Council and Director of the Canadian Advertising Research Federation.

As Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the President of Environics Analytics, Donna Lyle provides senior administrative support and manages a wide range of organizational tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of the company. Her responsibilities include coordinating schedules, handling client invoicing and payables as well as planning special projects. An industry veteran since 1991, she comes to EA after various administrative positions in benefits and human resources at Pitney Bowes Software (formerly MapInfo and Compusearch).

In her role as Executive Assistant at Environics Analytics, Nancy MacDonald supports management through a variety of administrative, organizational and financial activities, including streamlining invoicing, managing the client list and updating forms and records. She gained significant experience in all aspects of professional office administration in her previous positions assisting senior-level executives at Sears Canada, Kermodei Construction and Dr. Lingley Health & Travel Clinic. In recent years, she has supplemented her formal education with certificates of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks.
